The Badari Warriors SciFi Romance series by Veronica Scott

Meet the latest in the series:

JADRIAN: A BADARI WARRIORS SCIFI ROMANCE (SECTORS NEW ALLIES SERIES BOOK 3)
By Veronica Scott

Thanks for having me as your guest today! It’s always fun to be your guest and talk scifi romance.

In my current series the heroes are the Badari, genetically engineered warriors, created by an alien race to do battle with the Sectors, the humans’ interstellar civilization. A colony of humans has been kidnapped and brought to the scientists’ world for experimentation and of course the Badari and the humans have allied themselves together, escape and are now battling the aliens. I’m having a lot of fun with this series and for the current book, JADRIAN, I decided to explorea bit of life in the so-called sanctuary valley where the rebels hide out. I also wanted to have a couple who feel they might be fated mates, yet have a number of obstacles in their path.

BLURB:
Taura Dancer has been pushed to her limits by alien torturers known as the Khagrish and is ready to die when suddenly the lab where she’s held as a prisoner is taken down by an armed force of soldiers.

The man who rescues her from a burning cell block is Jadrian of the Badari, a genetically engineered alien warrior with as many reasons to hate the Khagrish as Taura has. This set of shared past experiences and the circumstances of her rescue create an unusual bond between them.

Safe in the hidden base where Jadrian and his pack take her, Taura struggles to regain her lost memories and overcome constant flashbacks during which she lashes out at all who come near. Only Jadrian can recall her from the abyss of her visions and hallucinations.

As the war against the Khagrish continues, it becomes increasingly critical to find out who she really is and how she can help in the fight. Until she can control her terrors and trust her own impulses, Taura’s too afraid to pursue the promise of happiness a life with Jadrian as her mate might offer.

When he’s captured by the dreaded enemy, will she step forward to help save him, or will she remain a prisoner of her past?

This is the third book in a new scifi romance series and each novel has a satisfying Happy for Now ending for the hero and heroine, not a cliffhanger. Some overarching issues do remain unresolved in each book since this is an ongoing series but romance always wins the day in my novels!

EXCERPT
After her rescue by Jadrian, Taura has been in the human hospital in the valley but doesn’t really feel safe yet.:

“Can I go outside? Make sure we’re not at the Khagrish lab?”

Jadrian looked at the doctor. “Doc?”

To Taura’s surprise, the doctor nodded. “A short field trip might be a good idea, but only for a few minutes. She’s very weak, obviously disoriented and having flashbacks, whether she remembers them or not.”

“May I?” he asked, holding his hands out to Taura. “I question your ability to walk too far but I’d be pleased to assist.”

Reassured yet again by his understanding of how she might be feeling, she managed to whisper her consent.

He swept Taura into his arms, exactly as he had in the burning lab, and carried her from the hospital room.

She nestled closer to his reassuring bulk. “I just—the Khagrish screwed with my mind—I have to be sure—” Biting her lip, frustrated at being unable to string together a coherent sentence, she closed her eyes. “I’m not crazy.”

Jadrian hugged her. “Of course you’re not. I understand. We all do. For starters, if you’re doubting us, you might notice we took off the Khagrish neurocontroller before we loaded you onto the flyer at the lab.”

She stared at her right arm, rubbing the slightly discolored skin where the black bracelet had been. “Thank you.”

Her gallant rescuer moved past other people who stepped aside, gawking. She kept her focus on Jadrian, refusing to be embarrassed. The plain blue hospital gown was a boxy one piece garment keeping her modest. Her current physical and mental condition was not her fault. I need to know I’m truly out of that hellhole of a lab. If she could verify she’d been taken to a new location, she could let down her guard a little bit. Maybe unwind a turn or two of the intense anxiety tying her in knots. Her hope grew the further Jadrian carried her.
A door whooshed open at his approach and a cool night breeze brushed against her as Jadrian carried her away from the building.

“I’m going to set you on your feet now,” he said. “I imagine you’d prefer to stand, tough little human you’ve shown yourself to be. But I’ll stay right here.”

As he loosened his grip she slid from his embrace. He had to steady her because the vertigo was overwhelming, but she stared hungrily around. It was pitch dark, save for the lights of the medical building behind her and a few softly glowing pools of illumination in the distance. Moss-like growth cushioned her bare feet, and she scrunched her toes into the velvet texture, so different from the cold bare floor of the prison. A breeze ruffled her hair, and she sniffed greedily at the scent of forest trees and night blooming flowers.

“Sanctuary valley,” he said, making a sweeping gesture. His voice held a note of pride. “The Khagrish can’t get you here.”

“So you and the doctor keep telling me.” She threw her head back to contemplate the stars blanketing the night sky with points of brilliance. She didn’t recognize any of the constellations, but the fact didn’t upset her. She knew she was on an alien world, kidnapped from the Sectors, so of course she wouldn’t be able to read the stars. “I’m free.”

Review of  Jadrian:
A Badari Warriors SciFi Romance Novel
by Veronica Scott

I was captivated on page one!

Taura wanted an end to the constant torment by the uncaring aliens that performed mentally and physically painful tests on her every day...except for today. For some reason they had left her in her tiny cell today.

It took her awhile to realize the ship was being boarded by different aliens.
While the 'new aliens' appeared to be rescuing her, after all the mind games her captors had used, she no longer knew what was real or not. However, when the very tall Jadrian lifted her up and carried her from the ship, a bond began to form between them.

However, nothing is easy in the intriguing story.  Taura has no memory of her past, only her nightmarish time on the torture ship. So despite the growing love between her and Jadrian, she refuses to become his mate because she has no clue about her past and the type of person she was.

Lots of regressions, difficulties, and anxiety attacks on her part, and great concern on his follows.

Also, the planet that Jadrian lives on is not particularly safe either.  But here, they are not alone. Here, the can fight back.

I truly enjoyed this story. I had no idea how it would end until I got there.
Veronica Scott never fails to provide a fabulous and unique Sci-Fi Romance.
