There will be no substitution in prizes. If you cannot accept as is, the prize will be awarded to someone else.

For the last couple of years, I've been focused on my humorous writings, which happen to be contemporary and historical. My sci-fi's have have always been more serious, so I've been putting them off until I publish my two funniest series.

However, in 2015 I hope to publish my Sci-Fi New World series. Beginning with

Outbound
With the prodding by the her sister’s spirit, Saran and their giant blue bull leave their farm in search of a handler/husband so they can escape Earth and travel Outbound.  The man she meets and falls in love with is her sister’s husband and their spiritual joining sets into play a prophecy written a million years before as the 3 become 1, a soul so massive that it requires 3 bodies to hold it.

TamaraSaranDem leads a colony of people to a new world where the dominant sentient species is blue cattle. First thing, their own blue bull declares himself their Messiah. He must fight to claim himself king.

The colonists struggle to accept 'cattle' are sentient and have rights equal to theirs. Yet without them, they will die, given the, the harsh seasonal weather patterns, giant bears and T-Rexes that makes every day in their Paradise a challenge to survive. Only as one can the two disparate species survive what will come. But can they overcome their innate bias and mistrust of each other?

Here are two sets of book covers for the series. Please help me decide which you like better.

In the first group I use the name Jon Javit, who is the sci-fi writer in my A Long Road to Love series. I feel bad about destroying his home life in the series, so I'm thinking about using his name for my Sci Fi series. However, he's more serious than I am, so he has serious covers.

Choice #1

In the second group, each book is designed to represent a main theme in the story and being mine, they are more visually noisy than Jon's.
Choice #2

Which entices you to want to read it more?
Choice 1 or 2?

Which name would you prefer? Liza O'Connor or Jon Javits?

Please leave your preferences in the comments to be in the running for one of my currently published books:
Saving Casey-Suspense thriller with reincarnated heroine.
Ghost Lover -humorous Contemporary romance with ancestral ghost running amuck.

A Long Road to Love series:
Worst Week Ever- funniest book I've ever written.
Oh Stupid Heart-an endearing romance
Coming to Reason-Just because someone says they love you, doesn't make them Mr. Right.
Climbing Out of Hell- If you lose everything, you can rebuild  yourself into a better person.

or you may request a rain check for Outbound when it's published in the future.

AND DON'T FORGET:

  1. Choice #2.
Finally we getthis series that I've been awaiting for years. Years, I tell ya!
I'm totally ambivalent about the name you choose.
    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks for voting. I appreciate your input. But you are still going to have to be patient. These don't come out until 2015.

  2. Liza O'Connor and I like a mix of the two titles Outbound one with Liza name and two and three from the second set.

    1. Interesting. I like that first cover of Jon's as well. But then I like Blue (the bull) because he's a main character of the book. (He's sentient and declares himself Messiah and king of the new planet.)

    1. Thanks for the input. I expected everyone to choose option #1. Looks like Jon isn't going to get this series.

  4. Is that a Yak? I like #2 without the yak. I can understand chosen a different name for the series, but Liza O'Connor sounds like a great Sci-Fi writer too. ;)

    1. Meet Blue. He's a sentient being who was stolen from his planet and dropped onto earth where they raised him like a beast of burden, which made him very ill tempered. However, the planet the colonists arrive on happens to be his home planet, so upon arrival he declares himself king and messiah. I'm not sure he'll let me take him off the cover. He is King after all.

  5. I like the second set. The first set doesn't show me anything about the books so I'm not sure I want to read them. I like having scenes on the covers.

  8. Set #2 catches my attention much more. No need to enter me though, as I already have all of your titles. :)

  9. Of group 1, only the first cover appeals to me. I like all of group 2. And I hate to be sexist, but when looking at unknown authors, being a woman, I am more likely to look at books that appear to have been written by women. There are some exceptions, but not too many! So use Liza. Good luck with this series!

  11. I love the covers in Choice #2. They are lovely and draw the reader in, I think. Both names are fine, though studies show that male readers are more likely to read male authors. Yes, it's sexist, isn't it? michelle_willms at yahoo dot com.

    1. Hmmm. Does anyone know the % of women readers to men in sci-fi?

  13. Definitely group 2 and wow, how do you write in such different spectrums? I personally prefer Liza O'Connor but perhaps it because I associate that with you. Others leaving comments did bring up good considerations.

    1. I grew up reading and writing sci fi, but IMO it is the hardest to be successfully published in. And until recently putting romance in a sci-fi, which I've always done, was frowned upon. But now, it's wide open baby!

  14. In terms of sets, I prefer the simplicity of set one, but I love the cover for Sojourn in set two. As for pen names - I find it confusing enough dealing with one of my own without keeping two or more straight with my fellow authors. Even though I understand why some prefer to use different ones for different genres. I am an author of little brain. >.<

    1. This is a big issue for me, because I am not up for supporting a second name to the extent I do for my own. Thus a second name will be at a disadvantage from the start. I wish Amazon would allow you to organize your books according to genre and series. Maybe I'll write and suggest they do that.

  15. I like the #2 series. I'm always drawn in by interesting architecture so the third one really grabs me. Thanks for participating in the hop.

    1. Thanks so much. The masses have spoken. I'm going with the second series and my name. (Jon would never allow his name on such flashy covers.)

  19. I like the second set!! It's more in keeping with the blurb, I think.
