Halloween with the Swat Team by Gail Koger

HALLOWEEN WITH THE SWAT TEAM

No, I wasn't arrested. Gee, what kind of person do you think I am? Okay, maybe I'm a bit psychotic but in a good way. But your question was, how did I get to spend Halloween with a bunch of hunky cops?

It all started when my new neighbors moved in. The minute I saw the stick thin, tattooed-covered biker chick I thought to myself, Houston we have a problem. I just knew she was a tweeker. For you civilian types it's cop talk for a meth user.

Being the friendly sort, I went over to introduce myself. Okay I'm a snoop. The second I told her I was a 9-1-1 dispatcher, the biker chick let out a shriek, and bolted into the house. Huh? I looked around, expecting to see a big, scary cop. Nope. Just me. What a twitchy little thing.

About that time two of her fellow tweekers roared down the street on their Harley motorcycles. You know the type. Big, dirty, and hairy. I waved all friendly like, and wondered where I had left my pepper spray. My new neighbors gave me the one finger salute and rode their motorcycles into the house. Nice.

Wanting to welcome them properly to the neighborhood, I typed up a nice letter, and left it in their mailbox. It said:  I know what you are doing. The police know what you are doing. We are watching you. Move now or face the consequences. P.S. There's a nice trailer park on Grand Avenue that would be perfect for your business.

The next day they had surveillance cameras installed. Yep, they were pointed at my house. Any time their "friends" showed up, I would walk out, and write down their license plate numbers. They scattered like roaches. I'm pretty sure I put a big dent in their business.

Halloween rolled around and dang it, they were still there. I wrestled my six-foot automated wicked witch to the bushes by the front door and turned on her motion sensor. Let the fun begin. The minute the doorbell sounded, the evil witch cackled wildly, and the screaming started. Hey, Halloween can be fun for adults too. I doled out candy to the giggling hordes of little fairies, princesses, and Batman wannabes. My wicked witch was a big hit.

My witch suddenly came to life and shrieked like an enraged banshee.  I opened the door and blinked in surprise as two cops sheepishly holstered their weapons. I grinned and held out my bowl of candy. "She scares the crap out of everyone."

Assuming his best tough cop demeanor, the cute older officer plucked a Snickers from my bowl, and replied, "Ma'am, there has been an incident next door, and we need you to go inside, and lock the doors."

Fat chance. I was a 9-1-1 dispatcher, and well versed in the art of prying information out of the most reluctant caller. I gave the officer my best smile and went in for the kill.

I got both of their phone numbers and found out that my neighbor's drug deal had gone south. They had a possible hostage situation, and they needed to use my front yard as a staging area for the SWAT team. Whoopee!  A bunch of hot cops in my yard. Not so whoopee was the chance of a major shootout. Where the heck had I put my bullet proof vest?

Ten minutes later a loud cracking boom sounded, and my wicked witch crackled insanely. The tweeker's house had been breached, and the good news was no shots had been fired. I took a cautious look out the front window, and watched the hunky cops stuff my idiot neighbors in the backseat of a patrol car. Freedom at last!

My doorbell rang, the witch cackled gleefully, and I opened the door.  "Trick or treat," said the hot cop.  "Definitely the treat," I answered pulling him inside.

Gail Koger Bio:

I was a 9-1-1 dispatcher for thirty-one years and to keep insanity at bay, I took up writing. Not to worry. The insanity isn’t catching – much. Other than the addiction to chocolate and the twitch in my left eye, I’m good. I’ve had my weird but true stories published in newspapers and magazines.

Shenanigans by Gail Koger

Shenanigans

I was a 9-1-1 dispatcher for the Glendale Police Department and to keep from going totally bonkers – I mean people have no idea of what a real emergency is. Take this for an example: I answered, “9-1-1 emergency, what’s your emergency?” And this hysterical woman yelled, “My bird is in a tree.” Sometimes I really couldn’t help myself, so I said, “Birds have a tendency to do that, ma’am.” The woman screeched, “No! You don’t understand. My pet parakeet is in the tree. I’ve just got to get him down.” Like I said, not a clue. “I’m sorry ma’am, but we don’t get birds out of trees.” The woman then cried, “But… What about my husband? He’s up there, too.” See what I had to deal with? To keep from hitting myself repeatedly in the head with my phone, I took up writing. Most of my ideas come to me in my sleep. Scary? Huh?

My current book is Shenanigans, a paranormal romance. Kandi finds out trying to rescue a little Yorkie from a dog fighting ring isn’t as easy as she thought. A zany romp ensues.

Blurb:

Kandi Cain inherited her Dr. Doolittle abilities from her grandmother and became a psychic pet detective. To her dismay, she just acquired the power to communicate with the spirit world, but dead people give her the willies.

Just when Kandi thought her life couldn’t get more complicated, the neighbor from hell moved in next door. The nasty guy’s name is Dutch Callaghan. How can someone so gorgeous be such a dick? Kandi could chalk some of it up to his job. Dutch is a Phoenix PD homicide cop.

Kandi’s current case is rescuing a Yorkie from a brutal dog fighting ring.  Little does she know her dog napping suspect is involved in a series of brutal murders.  Disguised as an elderly nun, Kandi rescues the Yorkie and, in the process, blows the hell out of Dutch’s undercover operation.

Kandi now finds herself a person of interest in her client’s murder and her sexy-as-hell, pain-in-the-butt neighbor is in hot pursuit of the Ninja Nun. Is Dutch about to slap the cuffs on? Only time will tell.

Excerpt

“I know you’re the Ninja Nun,” Dutch rumbled in my ear.

Doing my best clueless impression, I stared up at him. “Are you talking to me?”

“Yes.” The word was a snarl.

I tapped a finger against my face. “Do I know you?”

“You’re a real riot.”

“Oh, now I remember. You’re the cranky bastard that lives next door to me. Forget your tuxedo?”

“Cut the act, Sister. You know why I’m here.”

“No, I don’t, and my name is Kandi, not sister. Go away before I call security.”

Dutch leaned down until his nose touched mine. “I don’t know how you did it, but you sic’d those damn pigeons on me.”

“Are you off your meds?”

“You also assaulted me, and that, sweetheart, is a class 1 felony.”

I gave Dutch a disbelieving look. “When and where did this horrible assault occur?

“Today at the warehouse.”

“What warehouse?”

“I’m in no mood to play games,” Dutch snapped.

“Me either. I don’t know what you’re talking about and I’ve never laid a hand on you.”

“True,” Dutch nodded. “You kicked me in the stomach. Repeatedly.”

“Teensy-weensy me, beat you up?  Please. You outweigh me by sixty pounds.”

Dutch pulled out a set of cuffs. “You’re under arrest.”

Tinkerbell growled viciously.

Dutch twitched and pulled his gun. “Bite me, you little rug rat, and I’ll shoot your ass.”

My temper flared to life. No one threatened my Tinkerbell. I stepped in front of the Yorkie and poked Dutch in the chest. “Back the hell off.  Only a dickless pussy threatens an itty-bitty dog.”

Jana suddenly yelled, “Oh! My! God! He’s got a gun!”

Chaos erupted as people ran screaming in every direction.

Dutch held up his badge. “I’m a cop!”

Two security guards tackled Dutch, knocking him to the ground.

I watched as they wrestled. Damn, someone was having a really bad day.

Shenanigans by Gail Koger

Gail Koger does it once again!  What exactly does she do? She writes wacky, bizarre, funny, delightful, craziness with fabulous characters that you’ve never seen before.  Stories so good that you’ll want to read them many times.

Shenanigans is a superb addition to her playful madness. This one is not sci-fi. Instead, it is a paranormal earth story that I absolutely adore. Honestly, it’s my favorite so far. And there is a book 2 coming. I CANNOT WAIT!!!

Shenanigans is about a young, smart-ass woman, named Kandi Cain, who can talk to animals. Given her talents, naturally, she opens a Pet Detective Agency.  Her father is former mafia, her mother thinks she’s an elf and celebrates Christmas every day.

Kandi starts out disliking her new neighbor because he’s a jerk, obnoxious, and a cop. (The latter being a potential problem, given everything she does is not entirely legal.)

It doesn’t take long for the two to clash into serious trouble, while each tries to do their job. And as much as I love Kandi, I warmed to Dutch, the bad-ass cop, soon as well. While intent upon arresting Kandi, he discovers much that he likes about her. She is adorable, what with talking to animals, and having pigeons and chickens poop on people whom she doesn’t like.

If you have a sense of humor, then
YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK.
If you don’t have a sense of humor, best move on...

Gail Koger shares Crossing Quinn

Today, I have invited Gail Koger over to share the crazy mob of aliens in her latest book.

Liza: Gail, I have long ago determined you write the funniest Sci-Fi novels since Douglas Adams died and thus had to stop writing. Is it possible that the soul of Douglas Adam has embedded in your brain and the two brilliant brains are what has created your latest book, Crossing Quinn? Seriously, this is the funniest Sci Fi Book I’ve ever read.

Gail: Thank you so much. It’s all those little voices in my head. They never shut up. Who knows? Douglas Adams might be in there too. Oh crap! All my characters in Crossing Quinn want to meet you. I mean every, single one. This is not good. Not good at all. How fast can you run? The var bugs are speedy varmints and once they latch on, it’s dinner time baby. They also leave all those nasty, oozing sores. And the rattling clicks they make, rivals the sound of a thousand angry rattlesnakes. Ugh.

Let’s not forget the Tai-Kok who are always ravenous, then again, so is little Clio, the baby Katanic shapeshifter.  So, we’ll need food. Lots and lots of food and a laser pistol or two to keep the monstrous Tai-Kok from trying to eat us. Which brings us to Dolon, Xenia’s backstabbing uncle. He will try to pull something underhanded and he’ll need zapping too.

Liza: Food is doable, but laser pistols? Fresh out.

Gail: Oh crap! The Coletti warlords will want to check you for any psychic abilities. Deny. Deny. Deny.  You are just a normal human. Got it?

Liza: But, I’m not psychic.

Gail: Perfect. Just keep saying it like that.

Liza: Really. I am not psychic.

Gail: Of course not. The next thing we will need is a first aid kit or a doctor for Xenia’s mother. She tends to faint. A lot. Her husband, Lysis is a Berserker and has a bit of a temper. No sudden moves. Do not pick up a weapon of any kind. Lysis has the tendency to shoot first and verify later.

Stay far, far away from Zarek, the powerful Coletti Overlord. If he finds out you have any psychic abilities, it’s wham-bam, you’re mated to a Coletti warrior. You do know their man parts are unique, right?
Liza: How unique?

Gail: They come equipped with tentacles. Yep, you heard me. Tentacles. Under no circumstances when you see them, should you shriek and run. The Coletti warriors love a good chase.

Liza: Hold on, this is a blog, not War and Peace Sci Fi style! I’ll let in five, but that’s my limit.

Gail: Okay, but you get to tell them. You do remember that Colettis warlords are very good at mind control?

Liza:  What the hell. Let’s invite them all.

Gail: Smart girl. What’s your first question?

Liza: I’ll start with Xenia. What is your fav part in this book?

Xenia: When baby Clio puked all over Quinn. The expression on his face was priceless. My second favorite part was when I got to kick Quinn’s arrogant ass. Coletti warriors don’t think they can be defeated by a mere female. Quinn didn’t know about my berserker abilities and he forgot to search my mother. Big mistake. My mother shot him with a tranquiller dart.  We chained Quinn up and locked him in a holding cell. Naturally, he found my warrior skills very appealing and fell in love with me.

Liza:  Okay, I wasn’t expecting any puking and my sources say you kinda cheated when you took Quinn down.

Xenia: Just a tad.

Liza:  Right. So, tell about your mother.

Xenia: She’s a brilliant archeologist, she’s highly intelligent, but doesn’t have a lick of common sense. She’s emotional, easily frightened, and she doesn’t follow orders. My mother has fainting down to an art form, and her singing is so bad it scares off the monstrous Tai-Kok!

Liza: Seriously, she scares the Tai-Kok? The bogymen of the galaxy?

Xenia: She does. They turn tail and run.

Liza: What about your father, Lysis?

Xenia: He’s the best father in the world and he’s the “Berserker”. Not even the Overlord is able to defeat him. I am proud to say, I have his berserker genes, which is why Quinn is...oops, I should say WAS tied up. Quinn, come meet Liza, she wants to know all about you. The warlord practically bristles with weapons.

Liza: Planning on going to war, Quinn?”

Quinn: With Xenia and her mother on my ship, I plan on being armed at all times. Does the Overlord know Liza has psychic abilities?

Liza: Me? Nope. Not a bit. Moving along, let’s get to know more about that precious little princess in your arms, Xenia.

Xenia: This is Clio. She’s a baby Katanic shapeshifter. She’s extremely intelligent and can assume any forms. The Ta-Kok ate her mother and I got the pleasure of blowing the hell out of their base.  Clio is now part of my family.  We are sisters of the heart. The only problem is keeping her fed. Katanics have the appetite of a velociraptor.

Liza: Clio, you are such a pretty princess. I can’t imagine you eating anyone!

Clio: Me hungry. You taste good? She morphs into a silky black creature with massive tentacles.  A mouth with serrated teeth appears in her body.

Liza: Oh shit! I’m outta here. She runs from the room.

Xenia: Huh?  I guess the interview is over.

Quinn: Too bad. There is a rumor going around that you’ve never been kissed?
Xenia: I haven’t.

Gail: Oh God.

Quinn: Pucker up sweetheart. It’s an easy fix.

Blurb

Quinn Jones is a formidable Coletti warlord. His mission is to capture Xenia and bring her back to Tanith to be mated with a warrior the Overlord has chosen. Problem is, Quinn finds himself falling for the beautiful Farin. Her unusual “psychic powers, combat training and berserker abilities” make her the perfect mate for him. How does he convince Xenia and the Overlord that she’s meant to be his?

Xenia and her parents are relic hunters who just discovered the fabled home world of the Nabateans. She isn’t about to leave the greatest find of the century to hook up with some Coletti. Not happening. Ever. No matter how many threats the Overlord makes or that he’s sending his best hunter to apprehend her. Okay, she’ll admit she’s drawn to the handsome warlord and she loves the way Quinn’s heavily muscled body fills out his black battle suit, but the egotistical jerk is about to get his ass handed to him.

When the galaxy is threatened with annihilation, Xenia and Quinn join forces to stop the murderous Tai-Kok. Fate has brought them together and nothing will stand in the way of their victory or their love.

Excerpt:

“Find out how the Coletti is able to bypass my security programs,” my father instructed.

“Yes, Papa.” I waited until Dolon’s attention was on my mother before backing into the command center. I closed the door and turned to face the warrior. The direct approach was usually the best option when dealing with Coletti warlords. I took one look at the Coletti’s arrogant expression and decided to have some fun. “What did you say your name was again? Troublesome?” I shook my head. “No. That wasn’t it. Sorry, I’m not good at remembering the names of Zarek’s servants.”

“My name is Quinn Jones. I am Zarek’s hunter and I hold warlord status,” he responded with a dangerous glint in his eyes.

“Whatever.” I hid a smile. The egotistical ass really didn’t like my dismissive attitude. He had expected me to be in awe of his amazing good looks and the fact he held the prestigious rank of warlord. “My father wishes to know how you managed to circumvent our security protocols.”

Quinn shrugged. “I have my ways. Give me your coordinates, and I can help with your guests.”

“Papa doesn’t need your help.”

“Four warriors against one? Not good odds.”

“You haven’t met my father, and it’s not your problem.” I severed the link.

The screen popped back on. “It is my problem if you’re injured or killed.”

“Let me set you straight. One. Papa is quite capable of dealing with our guests. Two. I might look harmless, but I’m not. Three. I. Am. Not. Going. To Tanith. Go start a war or steal some other female.”

“I will find you, and I will take you to Tanith,” Quinn promised in a quiet, scary voice.

Gak! Typical stubborn male. “Do you always do what the Overlord tells you?”

“Yes, and I never disappoint Detja.”

A smart male never did. “My father says Coletti warriors mindlessly follow orders and are ball-less. Is he right?”

Quinn raised an inquiring eyebrow. “Curious about a warrior’s body, are you, darlin’?”

I blinked in surprise. I had expected more threats, not for him to start flirting with me.

He grinned, pure devilry in his eyes. “Want a peek at my goods?”

For a brief second, I was tempted. His black battle suit displayed his heavily muscled form to perfection, but Papa hadn’t raised a fool. I plastered a love-stricken expression on my face and gushed, “Oh, I know exactly what you look like, lovey.” I projected the image of a wrinkled, hairy body with sagging male breasts and thick clumps of fibrous warts obscuring the groin. “Dead on, right?”

Quinn laughed. “Clever girl. Detja said you were full of surprises.”

Why was he being so charming? Was it a delaying tactic? Did Quinn have a way to track my transmission? “A word of warning. No one messes with my father. Not even the Overlord.”

“Zarek’s eager to add a fire-starter and illusionist to the Coletti gene pool. What the Overlord wants, the Overlord gets. We can do this the easy way or the hard way,” Quinn stated, dropping his flirtatious manner.

Quinn had finally revealed his true self. A relentless hunter with a bit of a temper.

Liza Reviews

Gail Koger shows a true talent for Comedic Sci-Fi
I loved this book from the constantly fainting mother, to the sassy comebacks of the heroine. She fears absolutely nothing. Blowing stuff up to right wrongs is just a typical day for her.  While working on a planet with critters far worse than ticks & chiggers combined, her mother created a repellant so she could continue her archeological digs in peace. While it seems like such an inconsequential matter, it turns out to save their lives several times. Especially, when they discover the creatures love the blood of the worst group of aliens in the entire galaxy: The Ta-Kok.

In my opinion, the second most evil is the heroine’s uncle.

The third worst thing in the universe is a crappy fellow that runs the cleaning of crap in the tunnels of a planet...can’t recall which one, maybe Tanith. There are lots of planets in space if you haven’t noticed. This cretin ensured our heroine had a horrible time cleaning crap....not that anyone would ever want the job.

And these are just a few of the never-ending moments of near death, but very funny bits in this delightful story.

There is also explicit sex scenes with Xenia and Quinn near the end. Since Quinn is a Coletti and has different hardware than a human male, Xenia has a bit more fun than mere earthlings normally have. But hey, we can dream can’t we?

Gail Koger shares Game On Askole

Howdy. My name is Gail Koger and once upon a time I was a 9-1-1 dispatcher. Too many years of wild requests, screwy questions, bizarre behavior and outrageous demands have left me with a permanent twitch and an uncontrollable craving for chocolate.
Liza gives Gail some chocolate...hopefully, to calm her down.

I took up writing science fiction romance to keep from killing people. So far, it has worked.  How did I come up with my new book Game on Askole? Being psychotic helped.

NOW, TO THE MAIN SHOW!

Game on Askole
blurb:

Tihar travels to Earth to find and claim a Jones’ female. He knows they are fearless, psychic warriors and talented in bed sport. Ten minutes after meeting Sarah, Tihar knows the feisty, little human is the one he has been searching for. Now he must convince Sarah, she’s meant to be his.

The first-time Sarah sees Tihar, she's a bit freaked out. The Askole warrior has tentacles, snakelike features and black armored-plated skin. Even weirder she finds him strangely attractive. Tihar’s torso is sculpted perfection and his black scales are kind of sexy. Who knew challenging Tihar to combat would start the Askole mating dance. He thinks Earth girls are easy and he’s about to learn messing with a Jones female is never a good idea.

As the two grow closer, their romance comes to a screeching halt when Askole rebels attack Tihar’s home world. He tells Sarah she is his heart’s destiny and he will love her to the end of time. He abruptly severs their mental bond and disappears. Reeling from shock, Sarah won’t let a galactic war stop her from hunting him down. Can the two of them find their way back into each other’s arms?

LIZA WARNING:
DO NOT SKIM OVER THIS EXCERPT. IT'S HYSTERICAL!

Excerpt:

A glittering blue light blossomed in front of us.

Sam gasped, “What the hell?”

“Force field maybe,” I cried.

With a frightened whinny, the horse skidded to a complete stop.

The light faded and a seven-foot-tall medieval knight; complete with black horned helmet and armor stood there.

The horse took one look the knight and started bucking.  I flew off and landed on a prickly brush. “Yeow!”

Sam sailed over the horse’s head and crashed into the knight. He, she, or it, just stood there. The black armor seemed to absorb the light until all you saw was its glowing yellow eyes.

“Sonvabitch! That smarts.” I yanked a thorn out of my ass and very carefully climbed to my feet. Was the knight in cahoots with the Tai-Kok or the Coletti? Either way it was bad for us.

Sam stared up at the knight and asked mentally, “Am I seeing things or is that a medieval English knight?”

“It does look like one, but medieval knights don’t carry laser pistols. It’s alien. Got any weapons?”

“A knife. You?”

“Nope.” I eyed the knight. “That armor looks pretty heavy. We should be able to out run him.”

“My thoughts too.” Sam got to her feet.

A deep growly voice asked in my head, “Do you belong to the Jones clan?”

I said out loud, “Oh my God, it’s talking to me Sam.”

“Me, too, and psychically.”

“The vibes I’m getting from it are definitely male.” Goose bumps skittered over my skin. It was like my entire body was being stroked with a feather. “And he’s horny,” I added.

“You think he’s looking for Kaylee?”

I shrugged. “Who knows?”

The knight pushed an emblem on his gauntlet. The helmet shrank away, revealing an alien nightmare. Tentacles squirmed about his snakelike features. His black skin had armor-plated scales. He cocked his head to one side and bared some evil-looking fangs.

“Is that a smile?”

“Could be. I think he’s trying to look friendly,” my cousin said incredulously.

“Friendly?” I chortled. “That smile would send most sensible people running for their lives.”

“Yup. Good thing we aren’t sensible.”

The alien’s red forked tongue slithered over his lips.

We both took a step back.  Sam pulled her knife. “If he tries to eat us, I’m slitting his throat.”

The knight’s compelling yellow eyes studied us as he asked again, “Do you belong to the Jones clan?”

Sam sidestepped the question with one of her own, “Who are you?”
“I am called Tihar.”

I could see why Voss had picked him to be my interrogator. Tihar was damn scary looking. “He’s working with the Coletti,” I told Sam and switched to mind talk, “You’re an Askole?”

“I am.” Tihar said proudly.

I casually glanced around for something I could use as a weapon. Nothing but rocks and cactus. “What do you want?”

“I seek females from the Jones clan.” The Askole suddenly picked Sam up.

My cousin stabbed him in the neck with her tactical knife. The blade didn’t even break the skin.

Tihar disarmed Sam and sniffed her. “You smell like Kaylee. Do you share her talent in bed sport?”

“What? No!” Sam squawked in outrage.

Good God, Kaylee’s mental broadcast of her bedroom activities had the entire male population of the galaxy wanting their own hot-to-trot Jones female.

“Hey, knock it off, you pervert.” Sam smacked wildly at the tentacle slithering over her chest. “How do you know Kaylee?”

“We had many adventures on the planet Roma.” Tihar dropped Sam and reached for me.

I ducked under his outstretched arm and took refuge behind a Saguaro cactus. “You do not want to smell me.”

Moving faster than the eye could follow, Tihar zoomed around the cactus and scooped me up. I gasped as he stuck his nose in my armpit.

Tihar inhaled and his tentacles stood straight up. “Gak. You stink worse than Davit blood worms.”

“I do, don’t I?” I couldn’t resist touching Tihar’s face. His skin kinda felt like a rattlesnake’s. Dry and scaly. “Put me down. C’mon, big guy, I don’t like being manhandled.” One of Tihar’s tentacles stung my neck. “Ow!”

“Clever little female, you are disguising your scent.” His tentacle crawled down the front of my jumpsuit. “You are a Jones female with fine breasts.”

Shit! It was like being groped by an octopus. I gripped the silky tentacles and yanked them off my breasts. “On Earth, you don’t put your hands on a woman without permission.”
“Askole mating rituals allow us to touch a chosen female.” A tentacle caressed my face. “So, soft.” Without any warning, Tihar spun me upside down and jammed his face in my crotch.

Sam had the gall to laugh. “Is that romance Askole style?”

God, I hoped not.  I punched him in the jaw and shouted mentally, “Stop that!” I rubbed my knuckles. Damn. It was like hitting a brick wall.

The Askole flipped me around. “How else am I to determine if you are fertile?”

“A medical scanner,” I retorted and swatted at another tentacle. “Why do you need to know if I’m fertile?”

“I am looking for a strong female to mate with.”

Oh, hell no. I squirmed frantically. “Put. Me. Down. Now!”

“I will offer three times the bride price for you and the other female.”

“No! We are not for sale,” Sam yelled.

Tihar totally ignored her. “Who is the head of your clan?”

“The Overlord. Release her,” Voss growled. Blood covered the left side of his face.

Oh, thank God. I couldn’t believe how happy I was to see the Battle Commander. Voss, on the other hand, looked like he wanted to throttle me. It wasn’t my fault he forgot to duck.

“I came to this world to find and claim a Jones female. You will not stop me,” Tihar bellowed.

“You can have a Jones female. But not these two. Give Sarah to me.” Voss bared his fangs.

I shot Voss a venomous glare. “You’re giving away Jones women like prizes now? Become our allies and win a hot-to-trot mate?”

“I will fight you for Sarah.” Tihar’s gaze was full of deadly resolve.

Sam rolled her eyes. “Should have known. Testosterone is universal.”

Seizing handfuls of Tihar’s tentacles, I jerked them as hard as I could. “Hey! I’m a warrior. I have killed over eight hundred Tai-Koks in battle. You will treat me with the respect I deserve.”  I gave him my best batshit crazy stare. “Got it?”

       “Yes, lady warrior.”

“Put me down.” To my utter surprise, Tihar obeyed. I eased away from him.
“I will give the Overlord four times the bride price for this one. She is worthy to be my mate.”

       “Lucky, you,” Sam quipped.

Rho popped in, seized Sam and poof. They were gone.

Damn. That was one sneaky move.

His gaze never leaving the Askole, Voss commanded in his perfect English, “Come to me, Sarah.”

I willingly took a step toward the Battle Commander.

Tihar’s enormous armored hand clamped down on my shoulder. “I have claimed this one.”

“Like hell you have,” I snarled. “Let go of me or I will hurt you.”

The Battle Commander tensed and bellowed, “Do not attack Tihar, Sarah. It will signal your interest in mating with him.”

       “What? You’re joking? Right?”

       “I am not,” Voss responded.

A cackling laugh broke from Tihar. “She has already struck me.”

Voss spat something that sounded like a curse word. “Do you know what you have done?”

“He was sniffing my crotch,” I yelled in exasperation.

Tihar taunted Voss. “The mating dance has begun and not even the Overlord can stop it.”

“No! It hasn’t,” I shouted. “I’m human and your rules don’t apply to me.”

“Your world is now part of the Coletti empire. The Battle Commander knows our customs and failed to properly protect you. As a warrior, you can challenge me to combat.” Tihar’s rather toothy grin was alarming. “Do you dare duel with me?”

I opened my mouth to respond.

Tihar bellowed a terrifying war cry.

“Mwah-hah-hah.” I bellowed back and gave myself a mental head whack. I had watched that minion movie with my five-year-old cousin way too many times.
Voss and Tihar stared at me in utter disbelief.

“What was that?” Voss’s mouth twitched as if he was struggling not to laugh.

Putting on my best poker face, I replied, “My battle cry. Why?”

“The purpose of a war cry is to frighten your enemies. Not reduce them to laughter,” Voss answered.

“I’m a fighter pilot. I seldom engaged in hand-to-hand combat.”

“As my mate, you will need a proper war cry,” Tihar announced.

“Thanks, but I’ve got one. Now prepare to get your ass kicked. Mwah-hah-hah.”

Tihar’s tentacles curled tightly. “It is foolish to think you can beat me, lady warrior. Surrender now.”

My temper flared to life. “Surrender? Not in this lifetime.”

“Think hard before you challenge me.” Tihar touched his gauntlet and his armor simply shrank away. “Do you think you can subdue me?” He stood perfectly still, allowing me to inspect him.

Not a chance in hell, which was why I planned on cheating. A sigh escaped me. Tihar’s torso was sculpted perfection. Thick muscles corded his arms and legs. Who knew black scales could be sexy?

Another tap and Tihar was completely nude. “Can you refuse this?”

My eyes bugged as I stared at Tihar’s super-duper hard-on. Holy cow! Askoles had humanlike penises, humongous balls and no pubic hair. Huh? Would you look at that? Even his man parts had scales. I linked with Sarah. “Get a load of this.”

       “Kinda busy. Talk later.”

“Okay, but Tihar is hung like a bull elephant.”

Voss threw his hands up in disgust. “Quit staring at his body. You are only encouraging him, Sarah.”

       “He is an eyeful.”

“I am also a master of the thousand delights,” Tihar proclaimed.

Voss crossed his arms and declared, “The only way to become a master is to have had sex with that many females.”

       “You’re a man whore?”

“No, a teacher. I have taught many females in the pleasure houses these techniques.” Tihar held out his hand. “Surrender and I will begin your lessons.”

Review of Game on Askole
You will never find a stranger, more demented story than this one. If you can keep up with their snide remarks, sarcasm, and who's who in this crazy tale, you will have the ride of your life.

It’s high octane all the way, with laughs and strange silliness throughout. Clearly, Gail Koger has lost her mind from all those years working as a 911 dispatcher. She’s taken all that craziness and stuffed it into a very strange but delightful sci-fi….er….romance. Even with this heads up you will still be stunned just how far Gail Koger has gone off the deep end.

And you know what?  It’s even funnier the second time you read it.

Stomp, stomp, stomp, Prepare to die from laughter.
