EYE have Tasha Black over today. Get it? Eye....
Space Rep: I get it. The only reason I'm not groaning is because that eye is really cool!
Space Rep: I get it. The only reason I'm not groaning is because that eye is really cool!
Scientists have developed artificial eyes that can see, and
artificial skin that can feel, raising some interesting questions.
If you lost an eye, wouldn’t a high-tech replacement be
great?
What about if both your eyes were perfectly healthy? Would
you trade one for an upgrade?
What if the new eye could zoom in on distant
objects, reveal the microscopic world, or let you see in the dark?
Does the sensory input from artificial skin count as
physical contact with the person you love? Can you experience love at first
sight, if that sight is just an image from an implanted camera?
And most importantly, could you ever love someone who was
more machine than human?
This is exactly the question Cordelia Cross has to face when
the only man she has ever loved has most of his body is replaced with
cybernetic components after a catastrophic accident in Reconstructed: Building
a Hero (Book 1).
Reconstructed explores the bounds of love against the
backdrop of a billionaire superhero romance.
From the description:
Some heroes aren't born...they're built.
Westley Worthington has it all. Piles of money, good looks,
a head for business, and a seemingly limitless supply of women who want to
please him. And that's just the way he likes it. Until a brush with death
causes him to rethink his priorities, and consider someone besides himself for
the first time in his privileged life.
Cordelia Cross has never had it easy. Her duty to her family
has her working as an assistant to a man she hates just to pay her sister's
medical bills. When her arrogant boss alienates his last true friend, she finds
herself promoted from schedule-managing coffee grabber, to the newest member of
West’s inner circle.
Tempers, and passions, ignite as the two start spending time
together, until a shocking accident puts their newfound attraction on ice. When
West is faced with the toughest trial of his life, Cordelia helps him realize
that he has all the tools he needs to be a force for justice.
Together, they must turn West into the hero no one ever
thought he could be.

I just finished Reconstructed. I have to say I've not read a book yet by Tasha Black that I didn't fall in love with. She quickly became a favorite of mine.
ReplyDeletereconstruced really is a book worth having in your reading list. he certainly didn't start a hero, but when you're made one? all bets are off. loved the book from beginning to end.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for having me on Multiverse, Liza!!! Crystal and Tanja, I am so glad you enjoyed the book! If anyone has questions I'm glad to answer them here. :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting question about is it love at first sight from an implanted camera. Intriguing book.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Daryl! It was really fun to explore all these questions while writing the book. I'm working on the next in series now and addressing the idea of "augmenting" vs. "reconstructing".
