Liza O'Connor interviews A.M. Griffin about Dangerously Hers

Today, we have the fabulous A.M. Griffin here to answer some questions and tell us about Dangerously Hers.

Peep Rep: Does she come bearing gifts?

Liza: In fact, I found a little note attached to an alien's leg.

The author will be awarding a Grand Prize of a handmade bookmark, signed cover flat, pens, flash drive, keylight key chain, a Loving Dangerously t-shirt, a signed copy of Fondled and Gobbled and a $20 Amazon GC to a randomly drawn commenter during the tour. (US ONLY)

Plus, a runner's up prize of a $20 Amazon GC will be awarded to one randomly drawn commenter during the tour.

Peep Rep: Wow! That's two fabulous prizes! What do I have to do to win them?

Liza: Complete the Rafflecopter at the end of the blog.

Peep Rep: Well, let's get to it then!

Liza: I sent A.M Griffin a billion questions and culled it down to ten once I got them back.

1)            Describe your spaceship and how you came to own it.

I came about it the same way Kane and his crew came about theirs in Dangerously Yours. I stole it. Yep, I have over thrown my alien captors and stole it. There’s someone in my crew who has flown military planes and jets so that makes him very qualified to learn how to fly a spaceship (in my head it does). And just like Kane and his crew we stick it to everyone who has done us wrong by lurking in space and stealing goods from unsuspecting aliens.

2)            What do you dream about at night?

Alien invasions! I dream that aliens have come and my family is separated from me. I dream that I’ve joined some type of militia and have vowed to give the aliens hell while they’re here. Since this is my dream and at this point in it the dream has taken a lucid turn, I have found my family and we are all fighting the alien bastards and winning. I can't have my dream ending on a sour note.

3)            Why do aliens keep visiting Earth? Are we really that interesting?

I think we are pretty interesting or they wouldn’t keep coming or have never left. I think they study us much like the same way that we study the behaviors of ants or the mating patterns of birds or the family dynamics of primates. They want to learn more about us and want to learn what makes us tick. I don’t believe that they see us as a threat or danger to anyone but ourselves. I think their interest in purely scientific in nature.

4)            What event occurred in your life that has influenced your novels?

I had an alien experience when I was younger. It’s no secret. When it happened I told everyone at home and even went to school the next day and told everyone there. From there I developed an obsession with science fiction that I haven’t been able to shake (not that I want to). The experience has definitely influenced my thinking, I say for the better but I’m sure my husband would say something entirely different. He’s the one who has to listen to the “alien invasion plan”.
Me: First things first, when things pop off, we meet at the house. Secondly… (so on).

5)            Do you think humor has a place in Sci Fi?

Most definitely! It all depends on what you consider as humor. In Dangerously Hers, Jess has an internal monologue that I find to be quite humorous. I think most of us do. I try to infuse a little bit of humor in all of my books whether it is with internal monologue or a snarky tongue.  But since I’m working with aliens who don’t understand human nuances I work mainly with that. I love reading books that make me laugh and cry. I think if an author has done that they’ve done a very good job in perfecting their writing technique.

6)            How does your family feel about your writing and you being an author?

They are very proud of me. Most people would find that surprising since I also write erotica. But I know that I’m very lucky to have such and open and loving family. I remember my now deceased grandmother asking me if she could read one of my books and I told her it was way too nasty for her precious little eyes and that tickled her. I’m very fortunate and I don’t take any of it for granted.

7)            What's your favorite line in the story?

Jess reaches for Rasha’s jango which is a sword-like weapon and he pulls away from her, telling her that she shouldn’t try to take a warrior’s weapon. He then feels a little guilty and lowers it so that she can look at it. Being the snarky girl that she is, she responds with this.
“Never mind. You're acting like it’s been kissed by Jesus or something.”
That line cracks me up because Rasha, being the alien has no idea who Jesus is.

8)            If your main character had been allowed to write the novel rather than you, how would the story have been different?

Wow. If Jess was writing this story it would have been a long drawn out story about how she exacted revenge on all the aliens who abused her while she was at the brothel and then we would follow her as she climbed the political ladder of Sonis. It would not be a love story because in Jess’ mind she has no time for it. It would be all about business.

If Rasha wrote the story it would be short and to the point. He saw Jess. He wanted her. She wanted him. And they mated. The end. LOL. I’m dealing with two different personalities here.

9)            How would you describe your relationship with your muse?

My muse strikes whenever and wherever. I haven’t really got my muse to work on a schedule. Sometime I love my muse and sometimes I’m not really happy with her.  Can't very well write a scene while I’m driving, but since my muse has taken over I’m forced to pull out my cell phone and press the record button. I’m learning her ways.

Have you ever needed intervention?

Yes! If my muse strikes in the middle of the night my husband is the one who tells me and her to save my work and close my laptop. My muse isn’t particularly happy when he does this but she knows not to mess with the hubby.

10)    Tell us the stupidest thing you’ve ever done.

I’ve done some crazy things in my life, but I wouldn’t say I’ve done anything crazy. When I was 14 my best friend and I were riding our bikes downtown when we heard a band practicing. We went into their apartment and asked to join as back-up singers. We told them we were 18 and just like that we joined The Woo Woo’s. We went to all the rehearsals but they ended up kicking us out of the band because we never showed for any of the shows. They were at bars and we couldn’t get in. Now that was crazy, but I wouldn’t say stupid. It would have turned into a stupid idea if we would have been harmed, but we weren’t. So crazy, not stupid.

Liza: And now let's discover a fab new book:
Dangerously Hers
by A.M. Griffin

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Loving Dangerously, Book Three Jess hates aliens. After the invasion that destroyed Earth, the extraterrestrial bastards sold her to a brothel as a sex slave. She may have escaped but the old memories and fears still linger in the dark corners of her mind. Supposedly Sonis is just the place for her—somewhere safe, where she can heal and start fresh. She’s almost hopeful…until she meets Rasha, her new boss.
Rasha, Captain of the Sonis Royal Guard, is a warrior through and through. He’s huge, sinfully sexy and could have any woman on Sonis—but the woman he wants is Jess. He’s very much an alien and Jess knows she should hate him or at least be wary, but whenever he’s around, she loses control. She tells herself it’s only sex—amazing, mind-blowing sex like nothing else she’s ever experienced—but there’s something about Rasha that shakes her soul. The feel of his skin against hers, the look in his eyes as he touches her—they make her want to believe it’s possible to find love and begin again.
  EXCERPT
Rasha raised it out of her grasp. “You should never try to take a warrior’s weapon.”
She pulled her hand back in record speed. “I wasn’t trying to take it. I wanted to feel it.”
He lowered his weapon in front of her.
She flicked her hand out nonchalantly. “Never mind. You're acting like it’s been kissed by Jesus or something.”
“Who?”
“Forget about it. It’s precious, I get it.”
“There’s no reason to get upset. If you no longer want to touch this weapon, I have another…weapon…you can touch.”
She shifted on her feet, feeling the bumbling idiot trying to rise to the surface. “No, thank you.” Yes, please.
He ran his hands down his muscular thighs. “Another time then?”
Jess had the fleeting thought of him running his hands on her. Oh jeez, how good would those hands feel on me.
“Hmm?”
“I shall leave you alone. I’m sure you have plenty of work to do.”
“Alone? again?” As she spoke, she immediately wanted to take the words back.
He cocked his head. “I could stay if you wish. Eva said you would need ‘space’ in the beginning.”
She snorted. The sound wasn’t pretty at all. She might as well have oinked like a pig while she was at it. “I don’t wish you to stay.”
“Really? Are you sure? We could do something about that.”
Was his voice always this deep?
She picked at her hair nervously. “About what?”
He inhaled sharply. “I can smell you.” Then he let his gaze drop to crotch.
  7. I came by and tried to comment, but my computer hates me today. Can you please post this to your blog? I'd really like the author to know I really like her work.
    I'm not a fan of Sci-Fi any more, used to love Heinlein and Asimov, but this blurb and excerpt make me want to be a fan again. Very sexy and hot! Must put on TBR list! Your interview, like all of Liza's interviews, was awesome and funny. Now I know who has the plan for the alien invasion. I know another author who has the plan for the zombie apocalypse. So I think I'm set. :)
    1. The above came from Jenna Jaxon. She and the digital world are battling today and it would not let her post.
